Rav Yaakov was born in Queens, New York. He studied at the Mir Yeshiva and later received semicha from the Rabbi of the Haredi community Va’ad, Rabbi Sternbuch, and from Rav Ben Tzion Hacohen Kook, Shlita. He served as a Halacha apprentice at the Haredi community Va’ad and in the ‘Yad Rama’ Beit Horah, headed by Rav Matityahu Deitch. Rabbi Skoczylas is the author of series of books “Ohel Yaakov” with more than 15 volumes on various subjects of Jewish laws. His books can be found in numerous fine yeshiva libraries around the world. In addition, Rabbi Skoczylas authored a questions and answers book, based on the teachings of Rav Avigdor Nebentzal Shlit”a.
